My car has an oil leak and the level is really low, I have to go on a 2 hr trip tomorrow and can’t take another car, would it be okay to add oil to it just in the meantime ?

Millions of people roll like this. Many cars consume noticeable amounts of oil; either by burning it or leaking it. Check the level, add what you need and keep an eye on it or else engine goes kabluey.

Back when I was a kid I picked up a winter beater to save my good car, was a beat 89 Horizon That thing drank oil faster than gas! I drove it for that winter and it was sucking down about 2 quarts a week (roughly 200 miles) I was buying recycled oil and even tossing used oil in it just to keep it running. Finally had some time and pulled it apart. Every ring in it was junk. Quick hone and new rings and oil use dropped to about 1/2 quart in 3K. Sold it for 3 times what I paid.
