I had driven the car for maybe an hour or so and then didn’t drive it for 4 or so days, today I started backing out of my driveway and when I pushed the brake to go into drive it made a click sound at the pedal, then the light turned on and the brakes stop just as fast however I have to push the pedal further down to make them engage, whats the issue? I was also a little risky and drove it for roughly 2 hours after the light turned on
DIYer advice: The brake warning light, on the dash, came on?
Check the brake fluid level, in the reservoir under the hood. It may be low, which is what triggered the warning light. But the important question (if it is low) is *why* is it low? Worn brake pads can make the brake fluid level low, but that’s not something that happens suddenly, with a “click”, where the brake pedal suddenly feels different. One possibility is that one of your brake pads fell apart, so the friction material came off the metal backing plate. Or it may be a leak. Or something else.
Anyway, check the brake fluid level, to start with. And best not drive it, until you get it diagnosed, and fixed.
