03 V6 sport edition doesn’t fill with gas!

So i have had this car for about 3 weeks… I noticed the p0442 code came on with the engine light after I got gas. Apparently it’s not an immediate issue so I continued on driving it to work and back thinking it was just a loose gas cap, and would wait for the engine light to reset itself if it was indeed the cap.

Fast forward to today getting gas again the pump would stop prematurely. I would go ahead and continue putting gas a couple times and it would keep on stopping. Once I turned my car back on it was only half full.

Any ideas what this could be? As well, literally just fixed the water pump 2 weeks ago, and not ready to splurge another 1000 on this car.
