Need to replace my water pump on my 2000 Dodge Ram work van but I’m having a hell of a time getting the fan clutch off.
I’ve tried PB B’laster, heat gun, heat gun + PB B’laster, pulley holders, an air hammer, air hammer + pulley holders, clockwise, counter clockwise… no luck. The replacement water pump has right-handed thread so I’m assuming the old one does as well.
I’m at the point where I might try and take the fan shroud and the water pump off at the same time. Unfortunately, there’s a buried hose and hose clamp on the top of the water pump that’s super hard to get at even with everything removed. It doesn’t help that this is a van and there’s hardly any room to work from above.
Any suggestions/ideas??
Some are very difficult, you just need more leverage in most cases.
