I started small with a few customers and it’s just grown by word of mouth. I run my shop part time after hours and on weekends, I do not have signs and do not advertise. If you’re good at what you do and do a little advertising you’ll be able to make a decent living after some time.

hang out at the autoparts store parking lot.

when you see somebody that is stumped while their hood is open… ask if they need any info…

if you have a scan tool and know how to use it… put up ads in local classified… craigslist offerup… facebook market place… that you read codes for $15 bucks… or offer brake inspections at peoples homes. if you are changing rotors along with the pads… you don’t need much more than basic tools and cans of brake clean to clean the new rotors … i had several home customers that went thru brakes a lot… i installed new rotors… then reboxed the old rotors and had them turned to reinstall the next time i did brake jobs… think of all the UBER drivers that need brakes as fast as possible…

just be really glad that there are not so many trapped rotor vehicles anymore…

also… if you want to keep them as customers… tell them the whole truth. don’t lie to them.
