Hello people of reddit.
I hope this question hasn’t been asked before (if it has i am sorry).

I recently bought my first car, a 2009 e82 125i automatic and i am really confused about the transmission situation.

Correct me if im wrong but from what i can gather BMW had two automatic transmissions. A American made GM 6l45 and a German made ZF however i can’t find any concrete answers as to which cars had what transmission. We recently picked the car up from germany where it has lived all of its life up to this point so i am also wondering if the fact that the car is a euro spec model has something to do with what tranmission is in it.
