I’ll try to put this in the least amount of words.

-Feb. 2021 2012 Ford Focus (trouble car) car has transmission issues in Idaho

-Take to dealership who repairs rear main seal oil leak and replaces clutch at 137.9k miles. Double checked bc it’s a trouble car and they assured me it should be good for a long while now.

-Move to AZ, car breaks down 14 miles from house

-Obviously transmission issues and I can’t afford to fix so car sits for 2 years until I get Transmission Control Module recall comes in the mail

-Get car to dealership, needs oil leak fixed before TCM can be diagnosed. Car is at 140.3k miles now.

-While fixing oil leak, they find Rear Main Seal is leaking and clutch needs to be replaced again because of it.

-Idaho dealership says warranty was 2 years, unlimited miles and can’t do anything to help me after the 2 years passed. National customer service line says I don’t qualify for help bc the mileage is too high.

Am I just circumstantially screwed or is there anything I can do bc anyone would agree replacing the clutch and fixing the rear main seal twice in 2400 miles is ridiculous.

I agree I shouldn’t have let it sit so long and I shouldn’t have let my anxiety prevent me from making the phone call to the Idaho dealership sooner, but I didn’t have the money to fix it and had no reason to believe it would be the clutch/rear main seal. The recall wasn’t active yet so I would’ve had to pay, which I couldn’t afford.

So now they want >$650 just to release my car. I just paid $220 for a new battery and I’m financially in a tough spot. Is there anything I can really do to at least stick up for myself?

Yea you are kinda at their mercy. A warranty on the work is long gone. Sorry for your luck. You are sticking up for yourself, as are they for their time and effort.
