07 focus transmission fluid change

My car is at 189k kms (117k miles) I want to change the transmission fluid and filter, should I do it this late? Bought the car few months back and don’t know the service history. Wouldn’t hurt right?

I’m no expert I always hear from people to not change the transmission oil.
