Hi, randomly last week my car started doing this thing when I sometimes start it (bear with me while I try to explain this the best way I can) the power like lowers like the car is losing power for maybe a split second (but doesn’t actually turn off) then it comes back and it’s over and a chemical like smell will fill my car for a few seconds and then it’s done and fine. It’s happened about 4 times in the past week and I feel like it’s mainly if the car hasn’t been started in several hours or a day. It does not do it every time it is started. I plan on having someone to look at it, but was kind of hoping to get some advice on what it may be to try and prepare for the expense and see how serious it could be. It’s a 2013 Nissan Sentra. 3 year old transmission, new brakes, rotors and battery MAYBE 2 years old.

    crap alternator?

i mean it’s a 10 year old car. there’s older cars with the same alternator running fine, and there’s newer cars who’ve crapped out their alternator in the first few years.

would suggest getting a multimeter to check it out.
