I truly don’t understand how in 2023 with all the digitalization we have cars with backup cameras from at best a 2015 mid range smartphone. What’s preventing a manufacturer like bmw for an example from putting a high end sony sensor like the one on the iPhone 15 into their camera modules?
Backup cameras are for making sure children aren’t behind you when you reverse primarily. You don’t need to see every pore on their face to not run them over. There’s barely any benefit for a large cost increase. That money would be better spent making more parts in the engine bay out of metal instead of plastic.
