I drive a 2017 Kia Forte LX. Just got my oil changed at valvoline yesterday and everything seemed fine. Later in the day my check engine light came on but my car was running fine. This morning I went out to start up my car and it wouldn’t start up. The battery light, oil light, and check engine light all lit up. I didn’t even hear the engine turn or anything, zero sounds. I know my battery is fine because they tested it at valvoline yesterday and said it had great health. So I have no idea what this could be or what I should do about it? Especially because my budget is tight, so I prefer doing repairs on my own if they’re easy enough. TIA!!!

Check the oil level, just to be sure. Then start with the battery. Is it the original one? I wouldn’t take Valvoline’s word for it being in good health. Try a boost start.

Also, make sure the shifter is firmly in Park. Try starting in neutral as well as Park. Occasionally, the problem is the switch that won’t let the car start if it is in gear, and it is easy to check.

Once you get it running, get the code read to see why the check engine light came on. That may be the underlying cause.

so my husband checked under the hood and everything looked good with my oil and battery connections, so he jiggled around some wires and made sure the connections were tight, then bam my car started up! but the check engine light is still on so i’ll have to get the code read
