Is higher API better than what type of engine oil used?

I am planning to buy my engine oil as it’s due for a change. Now I have seen a semi synthetic engine oil that is 15w40 (my motorcycle’s spec for it’s engine oil). It’s from kixx, but it’s only API SJ.

I’m using shell ax5 which is also 15w40 mineral grade but API SL. Is it better to use API SJ semi synthetic or Mineral grade API SL?
