The news was announced on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, whose host will exec produce the series, launching in 2024
After Midnight, which is based on Comedy Central’s @midnight, which ran between 2013 and 2017, replaces The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Good news everyone!
That was not a good show. Craig Ferguson was (and in my opinion still is) the king of late late night though.
What about Conan?
In my opinion Ferguson was better. By a lot. I really like Conan but Ferguson was exemplary.
I completely agree. I do think it’s worth noting that for me when I say better I’m not saying it in a quality or quantifiable sense, but in my subjective sense. In terms of skill or talent or whatever you want to call it, I think they are on the same level, but for my specific tastes Craig is just more enjoyable for me.
I’m about the other way around, I think Craig is incredibly talented and funny, but Conan puts me on the floor with regularity
And that’s why variety of choices (not just different people, but different people with very different backgrounds) is great/important! One never know what they are going to connect with.
I like Conan, but his interview skills are nowhere near Ferguson’s.
Seth Myers’s work during COVID lockdown reminded me of the fever dream nature of Ferguson. He’s still my favorite of the current late night hosts. He dresses a bit more casually than the others, is happy to share the stage with his writers in various bit, and his political commentary & news coverage is on point.
He’s much, much better now than when he started.
But that means there is a wild, rampaging James Corden on the loose. He could appear anywhere!
Can we please deport him to Canada?
No, don’t drag us into this mess. And he already went back to the UK, so hopefully, we will hear a lot less from him!
