I think things would’ve worked out differently if Nintendo hadn’t messed up the naming of the Wii U. We probably would’ve had a line up like this:

• Wii Pro (Wii U)
• Wii Portable (Switch)
They’re at that crossroad again with the Switch name. What do you think the Switch successor should be called? Keep the Switch name or nah?

This worked out really poorly for them with the WiiU. I doubt they will do it again. So many people (including me) thought the WiiU was either an addon for the Wii or a connected upgrade thing. Personally, I thought it was something like the that genesis 32x thing.
I honestly think Nintendo is 100% going to fuck up the name of the successor
Nintendo needs to take a drastic step away from every other player in every market they’re in.
Call the new console:

That’s the unofficial name of all the Nintendo consoles, and sometimes even non-Nintendo consoles.
I can see them doing like, “Switch Up”
If they keep the switch branding, they need to just call it “switch 2” instead of some name that they think is clever but will just confuse people.

They could also make the screen 3D capable and call it 3D Switch. Or 3DS if you will.
And then they could release another new console down the line and call it the “New DS”
