Unfortunately, if the selfhosted community is any indication, genai apps will just not disclose. (This is frustrating to watch, the mods put in a lot of effort)
This was already happening to some extent during Steam NextFest I think, so unfortunately I think you’re right.
Obviously. That’s why I keep saying this won’t work. The only way to stop it is for stores to curate content and they’ll never do that.
hopefully they can be tagged by users not just developers
So users can tag any game they dont like without ai even being involved? Yeah this one shouldn’t be left to the users.
you don’t have to use user-assigned tags when you filter your search
and I agree often the wisdom of the crowd is shitty, but user created ratings, reviews, and categories are utilized by people all the time
And they abuse them all the time, how often are games review bombed?
If social media is any indicator, it’s gonna fail. Almost every post has someone saying it’s slop and people bandwagon on it, even when it’s OC.
You think shitty youtubers audience make up majority of the population?
Cause otherwise that issue really won’t matter 99% of the time, even for the few games review bombed its pretty recognisable when it happens.
are you saying we’re just doomed
I’m saying some things shouldn’t be left to the general public when it’s easily abused with no way to prove or deny it.
A review is different than a tag, even the game tags are inappropriate a lot of times. Souls games being labeled as “casual” for example. It’s already not working lol.

I get this feeling from reading some of the comments on the fediverse, too, but I still want them there
I can decide if the comments or the built consensus is reliable
So… You’d just rather have no ability and no tools to fight back against sloppers?
Holy shit you lemmings have some of the dumbest opinions sometimes…
How do you figure out a restaurant is following the proper hygiene protocols? Or continues to do so after an inspection? Our entire life and current systems are inherently based on trust. There only so much you can do without someone finding a loophole as well.
This is partly why we have reviews, ratings, and “verifiable” reviewers. Watch their stuff and make an informed decision. Why are you not already doing this I should ask? You wouldn’t need disclaimers of you follow the age old hardened and true advice.
Funny how your opinion is exactly what you’re accusing me of.
I guess having a filter is better than none so people who respect the platform will tag their AI generated stuff. But yeah, this doesn’t fix the major issue at all. This is why many open source apps lifted their ban on AI-assisted PRs, there’s no point and you can’t prove whether something was made by AI or not. Making a ban or filters just encourages mob mentality and people falsely accusing genuine human effort as “hey this looks like AI!!!”
P.S. I’ve been told by a friend in the industry that pretty much every AAA company is using AI in all sorts of ways, but you bet they’re not going to put an AI warning because that’s bad PR. Bleh.
I hope this works out in practice. Either way, it’s good that they give this option.
Unenforceable on the code side of things. And increasingly unenforceable on the art side too as AI has moved towards procedural generation of graphics with code rather than directly creating images with diffusion.
Only way would be to force devs to submit their source code alongside the binary. Some games do this on the virtue of how they were built (Balatro being a good example being written in Lua), but this will never be something the gaming studios accept en masse.
