i concur with this
This is why I don’t really listen to the “wear your seatbelt thing” on flights
That plane disintegrated in three frames
yeah, the “wear your seatbelt” thing isn’t for when you nosedive to your death. It’s for when you’re sitting there eating your shitty snack and the plane hits unexpected turbulence and drops 700 ft in 2 seconds while your face doesn’t until it gets hit with the ceiling of an airplane.
Airplane seatbelts aren’t for crashes, they’re for turbulance. When the plane suddenly drops 20 ft, you want to be attached to it otherwise you’re gonna slam into the ceiling and land on someone else.
20 feet to an airplane is nothing it’s more like a few hundred, which is still not that big a deal to a jumbo jet. It’s kind of like rogue waves on the ocean. When I was ~14 it happened during a flight I was on, it was pretty bumpy already so people were seatbelted in and stuff was stowed (this was prephones or laptops being common) and the plane just DROPPED everyone started screaming and throwing up and crying, myself included, the pilot came on and told us it was ok but everyone was so terrified and stuff did end up strewn all over inside the plane. It’s a core memory for me and I still hate flying because of it. I can’t imagine if I hadn’t had a seatbelt on, or someone near me didn’t, it would have been straight into the ceiling then straight back down on someone voilently vomiting and screaming
Not every crash is the same. Also the seat belts work for turbulence, where the plane can hit a blob of low pressure and plummet several metres with little warning, so the belt is there to stop you colliding with the deck panels above you.
Oh shit. TIL.
Guess I’ll be wearing them now to avoid bumping my head
This was really sad. I heard a little bit of the voice recorder. The situation went from moderately bad to mayday to catastrophy in less than 60 seconds.
Here’s my understanding of what they believe happened: They appear to have flown directly into a thunderstorm which caused ice to build up very rapidly. That ice buildup caused a loss of control which caused the plane to bank hard to one side, most likely stall, then spiral straight down.
The sheer terror everyone must have felt in their final moments is what haunts me.
Holy shit.
Where is this?Edit: found the info. Happened on November 1st.
Foorage of a private twin-engine Learjet 60 business jet carrying 9 people crashed into a roadway and residential neighborhood in Greenacres, Florida
Hey can you mark this nsfw?
Np
I see two grey cars with the lights on, does anyone know if their drivers have been involved in the accident?
