Im ok with a full ending in a trilogy, the hero dying or whatever, but the choices were bad. And Kai Lang felt like a misplaced Final Fantasy villain.
I’m sad because BioWare produced the games I want to play. ME. DA. Greedfall ( I know it’s not BioWare ). And no one else is even trying to make those games.
Shit even the game they didn’t want to make and I didn’t want to play was incredible when I finally got around to trying it. Anthem’s core was fucking brilliant, even with it being forced on the studio and the best ideas for the game (flight) coming from the fat cats it still was some of the most fun I’ve had in AAA in 20 years…well untill it just abruptly ends after what’s essentially a prologue.
Is this a good place to link Shamus Young (RIP)'s masterwork, his novel-length discussion of the Mass Effect trilogy? tl:dr; first one was awesome, second one fouled up the lore but got away with it because of character and gameplay; third one had nowhere to go but down.
Obviously, set aside a few hours to read this, and probably a day if you’re wanting to read the comments, too.
I mean it’s sad but I can’t even replay the original trilogy knowing how badly it ends.
The fact that they decided to set Andromeda in a completely different galaxy even shows that they knew it too.

Kai Leng wasn’t cool enough to be a Final Fantasy villain.
