The RCMP was created to control Indigenous populations and protect the colonizers. They continue to work just as intended, except now they’ve extended their protection to anyone with a significant amount of wealth and property, and expanded their control of anyone who doesn’t have that.

And refuse to pursue the powerful. The 3 years of silence in the greenbelt corruption is a prime example.

Not to victim blame or anything but what made you think a banker would care about the working class struggle?

I was fooled into thinking he wouldn’t sell us off or destroy any pretense of protecting the environment that we ever had, but at no point did I think he cared about working class Canadians. He’s a capitalist, he’s never hidden that part.

Hahahaha I wasn’t fooled. I was telling everyone else they were fools for wanting to vote for him during the election campaign. And I remember how people downvoted me.

          I voted NDP.

Even if the leader was unpopular for whatever reason you could name, they were the best choice. A stronger NDP presence, even with the Conservatives leading a minority gouvernent, would’ve been better than what we have now. At least there would have been a stronger voice for the working class and the environment. PP and Carney would have had to make compromises with them. Instead we have a conservative party, worse than Stephen Harper’s, that’s essentially destroying democracy and free speech in Canada, and selling Canada’s ressources to the U.S. wholesale during a trade war.

The only good thing to come from it honestly though was the leadership change of the federal NDP. I didnt mind Jagmeet, but Avi is speaking a lot louder for the important issues. Its just too bad there’s not much realistically that they can affect. (I also voted NDP but the liberal party didnt have a chance in my riding anyway)

Oh, absolutely! I love Avi and how well he communicates. I feel he’s got a better chance at reaching the working class and convincing them to switch from liberal/conservative to NDP. Simply based on the common struggles we all face and the failure of our government to address them.

What is far more concerning is Carney’s RCMP–Chinese police cooperation deal starting this year, despite illegal Chinese police stations in Canada, influence campaigns, transnational repression … And Canada isn’t not even dependent on China.
