And in the Scottish Independence referendum - because David Cameron asked them to.

This is pretty common knowledge. Though not on the side Cameron would have wanted.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_interference_in_British_politics

Russia funds separatist groups across Europe. Just search and you find ones like these:

        https://www.todoalicante.es/english/council-europe-claims-russian-20250408100414-nt.html

        https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/sep/20/russia-funds-moscow-conference-us-eu-ukraine-separatists

Why would you agree they interfered with Brexit but not the Scottish Independence?

Divided we fall, so of course our enemies fund every level of separation they can. And to be fair, I bet we do the same to them.

I just wanted a higher standard, and I don’t doubt at all that they try to divide all over Europe (and more, it’s their modus operandi after all) but what I feel needs to be proven is that David Cameron asked for it.

Oh I’m not convinced he did. They have no interest in preserving the union. They want it broken.

If Russia did interfere (of which I’ve seen no evidence) it would almost certainly be on the leave side as it would further their aim of dividing western countries and get them focused inwards rather than outward.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don’t post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
