The communist manifesto describes the class struggle between the bourgeoisie (the rich) and the proletariat (working class). Literally the point of communism is to take power away from the bourgeoisie and give it to the proletariat by getting rid of private ownership (capital).
To add some detail, the bourgeoisie are the “owning class” whose income is generated by rents on the resources they own. There is also the “petit bourgeoisie” who are small business owners who likely work in the business they own but whose primary income derives from their status as business owner.
