I was do certain that they were trying to hide everything that I painfully read the whole thing and nothing. Just bad design.

As a beauty product it’s keeping packaging fashionable while keeping the info. I don’t think this would be legal for a drink or food item.

Try looking at legally required ingredient and nutritional labels on food and you’re in for a shock, light grey on white, yellow on white, label across a square corner, it’s clearly intentional and nobody seems to care.

Amazingly, the us actually has decent nutrition labels that are white background with black text and very clearly formatted

Expiration dates however, are another matter. If/when you can find them on packaging, they’re often unreadable/worn off/too tiny to see without magnification.

I wish the Feds would force manufacturers to print the expiration date either on the white nutrition label, or directly above the UPC code — 8 pt or larger black type on white background.

Ya, but print 101, designers know contrast thresholds and how much they reduce as typeface goes smaller. Even if this was a junior, it’d never make it past final checks. Even then a lot of printers would reply back after opening the file, “Uh… You sure?”
