Curious why all the down voting. Perhaps I’m a little out of the loop on the subject. I know he was not perfect. God forbid. But the racists focusing and picking on him specifically eventually leading to what happened is something needs to be addressed. And thankfully for the institutions involved it seems they have. But for the wider public. That I have yet to see.

A quick extra addendum for any others to get up to speed.

Last month Cofnas, a self-described “race realist,” accused Arday of plagiarizing parts of his Ph.D. thesis at Liverpool John Moores University.

    A.K.A. a racist and bigot.

Liverpool had already Looked over Arday’s PhD and found nothing to revoke it. But Confas couldn’t let that stand and Hyper fixated on it. Stirring up a ton of media attention with the help of the right wing media sphere.

Worse, plenty of academics came out in support of Confas. Which even if you think suspension for his actions was a bit harsh. (Fair enough) No one with his views should have knowingly been in the positions he’s been in the first place. His shameful racist views were no secret.

    >Cofnas himself had come under scrutiny in his academic career after Cambridge University’s Emmanuel College ended its association with him after some students expressed concerns over Cofnas’ blog posts, which argued that in a meritocracy “blacks would disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment.” Cofnas says he is not a racist and is in legal dispute with Emmanuel College.

Academic freedom is important. But certified quackery and bigotry aren’t.

I dunno why people would downvote except for the usual widespread biases.

The fact that this guy was attacked by a literal “race scientist” who continues his disgusting career unabated should tell everybody lots about the state of the “scientific community”.

Yup, just added some links. Confas is a real piece of work. Really a piece of shit we should all be ashamed of having produced or tolerated as a society.
