“A correct alert was sent to the retailer, but was subsequently subject to human error in the way it was handled in store,” [Facewatch] said.

They can’t even admit it was wrong. What was correct about misidentifying someone?

To the contrary – according to them the error was apparently how the human handled the alert. They’re making the case for more AI 🫠

Their shitty logic is it doesn’t matter what the AI flags because all final decisions should be made by a human. The sooner we turn this technology onto the rich and powerful, the better.

Sainsbury’s goes from bad to worse.

They stopped doing hot food in the cafe. Then the cafe was closed six months later due to a lack of business, what a shock.

Those ‘nectar price’ so called discounts which are often just a non card holder surcharge.

Then they started asking you to scan your receipt to leave the store. Screw that I’m not a performing monkey. No one cares if you set the alarm off walking through anyway so what’s the point.

Last time I was there there was a big tv beeping at me and showing a video with a facial recognition thing as I went past.

Truly dismal experience. I mostly go to Aldi these days.

Primark has the receipt scan thing as well now, except it’s to open the exit gate. What else’re they gonna do when they minimise the amount of human workers 🙄 I was mainly pissed off that they force wasteful printing of coated paper. I know Primark’s stock kind of relies on slave labour but assaulting the environment is a new low

Last time I was there the self checkout kicked up fuck, and wouldn’t let me pay until a staff member confirmed that the basket was empty. It got confused by there being 2 baskets instead of just the one.

“Ousted” is a very strange word to use in this situation. As though “shopper” was his job title and he is being kicked out by those that want to replace him as “shopper”.

The headline has since been changed to “ejected.”

If they’re going to normalise this shit, I’m going to normalise wearing face masks and dark glasses.

Normalise not using businesses that do this. Sainsburys are off my list already.

There is a Lidl opening near me, I’m bursting with energy to use it instead of Sainsburys if they don’t have AI cameras. It feels like going to prison shopping at Sainsburys now
