“Almost all of our inbound calls are women at the moment,” says Amy Van Doran, founder of Modern Love Club, a high-end matchmaking service whose services begin at $100,000.
Amber Lee, the co-founder of Select Date Society, says 82 percent of her clients in the past three years have been female.
The problem of the underwhelming male is especially acute for accomplished and high-earning women like Charlotte, who are often looking for similarly situated men. Unlike men, who “don’t care if the woman is a barista at Starbucks or if she’s a preschool teacher,” according to Louie Felix, a nearly 23-year veteran of the matchmaking trade
Generally speaking, she says, men don’t require the same amount of hand-holding and “emotional nurturing” women do over the course of a contract. With women, “it’s a roller coaster, and it’s very emotional,” she says. “We’re riding the highs of the excitement about a date or a budding relationship and then we’re riding devastating lows with them when they get rejected or the guy breaks up with them.”
Her female clients often need help managing their expectations; a key part of her job is urging women used to wielding control to let go and trust her. She had a client who insisted that because she typically flies first class, any prospective partner should be able to fly first class too. “I was like, ‘Okay, let’s be real. How often are you on the plane first class versus being cozy with this awesome relationship?’”
Still, she wishes people could drop their transactional attitude when it comes to searching for love. “It’s not about ordering human beings like we order things on Amazon,” she says. Other matchmakers offered similar metaphors for their clients who walked in with long wish lists: customizing a BMW model to your specifications; ordering a pizza; building a bespoke robot. Sometimes, London says, it felt like “love has been removed from the equation.”
Comedy gold. Absolute hilarity.
I thought women were the sensitive and empathetic gender who cared more about personality than looks or income? At least that’s what women claim. I don’t see those qualities anywhere here.
Women are humans and just as faulty. Once you reach a position of status, you start thinking that you’re better. That you earned your position there and thus deserve a reward. Typical

I think it’s best to see them as people with just as many flaws as any of us. Also, these are wealthy people in the upper echelon of earnings. I think many men likely have many flaws there as well.
Also, this could be selection bias as the women that are featured in an article or to reach out to a service like this is too picky than the many women that aren’t.
Not really. The cultural standard is that the man will generally marry at their class or lower while women will marry at their class or higher. So you have women who are successful and therefore should have a husband at that success level but are finding there are few men at that level for them. There is also a lot of competition because men at that equivalent economic success have one of the most open set of choices as to who they can partner with according to traditional gender norms.

I’m just confused why anyone paying $100,000 for a match making service wouldn’t be able to fly first class.
The women are paying for it, the ones being scouted are not.
sounds like these are looking for wealthy men who can support them
