Private trackers or good (paid) Usenet indexers are two solutions for *arr tools specifically. If you’re manually adding files then just get them from trusted uploaders, manually check the upload before getting it.
I got a .exe for the first time in my life last week. There was a webrip of Odyssey that was on the pirate bay but yeah it was .exe. i did have good luck with that before though because I got a webrip of Project Hail Mary when it was still in theatres.

It was out on streaming in Russia by then, I’m assuming because it had baked in Russian subtitles for onscreen written words. Other than that the audio and video was rip quality and it was still in theatres in North America so I didn’t ask too many questions.
