    I’m ignorant, and I hope someone can clue me in: what does “queer” actually mean in this context? The dictionary is useless.

        It sounds to me like this, overall, is actually a good thing. Conservatives are beginning to acknowledge that they have lost their fight against “sexual deviance” as a whole, and are now reduced to arguing about what kinds of sexual orientation are acceptable. Let them play their word games.
