I shall probably wear my light overcoat, checking it at the Union Station in Washington, where I shall also check the book which is to beguile my hours of idleness — “Moby Dick, or the White Whale”, by Herman Melville.

—H.P. Lovecraft, Letter to Lillian Clark, 11 April 1925: four months before plotting “The Call of Cthulhu”

Note: Currently this game plays on Saturdays 13:00 EST, but we may be able to change to accommodate new players. Despite the listing, there is no concrete start date for this campaign as of yet.

Hello! This is a long-term offer to join our online group, which includes myself, Jude, and three other players, Caleb, Ed, and Stant. We are primarily interested in narrative RPGs, but of course enjoy the game aspect of TTRPGs well enough as well, and aren’t people who ignore the rules without good reason. We have played together for a few years now, but are needing more players due to a couple departing for out-of-game reasons. We play a variety of systems, such as (obviously) Call of Cthulhu, but we have also played Cyberpunk RED, Traveller, Savage Worlds, Alien RPG, Morkborg, D&D, and a handful of others. We are always interested in trying out new stuff.

In our time playing TTRPGs online, we have found out that there are a LOT of crazy people in this community. To avoid these people, we have a lengthier than average application process. I myself had to fill out an application similar to this to join the group back in 2019, and it has been mostly effective. To apply, make a copy of this document (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BAGaPf8mEvIAqRUp2dEBtTKPm8Xfw3APWQUl1QSDVhM/edit?usp=sharing). DM it filled out to me over Discord, to “sigamber”.

As for the campaign itself, we will be playing the (as of time of writing) yet-unpublished Call of Cthulhu campaign White Leviathan, which asks the simple question of “What if Moby Dick was a CoC campaign?” It is a roleplay-heavy campaign, and will test your skills not only in the usual TTRPG manner, but also in your ability to really learn and embody mid-19th century whaling culture, speech, and shipboard life.

As a part of the application and integration process, once (if) your application is accepted, we will play one or two short ‘one shot’ games with you to get a feeling for your style and compatibility with the group before jumping into the full campaign. Important note: As we often play heavy-topic horror games and scenarios that take place during other periods of history, many potentially sensitive issues may arise. We have players from all sides of the political spectrum, but do not bring anything to the table.
