October marked the 10th straight month of decline in the number of Canadian travellers to the US. Air travel from Canada to the US dropped nearly 24%, while car travel fell more than 30% when compared to the same period last year, according to data released this week by Canada’s statistics office.

Overall, the US has seen a 3.2% drop in international spending in the country, driven primarily by fewer visitors from Canada, according to the US Travel Association, a nonprofit group representing the American travel industry.

As relations between the two countries remain icy, mostly in response to new tariffs Trump has imposed, Canadians are apparently committed to giving their southern neighbours the cold shoulder.

I am saddened that “one man” can change a long-standing friendship between two countries. However, after saying that, I have been accused of not keeping up with the times, and this must be one of those times where this old saying applies: “The honeymoon is over.”

Mostly in response the the 51st state sovereignty talk. The tariff’s are secondary. God Bless a Canada.

A friend of mine has no choice but to go to the US for work. I should ask him how he feels about that, and if he takes a burner phone.

i mean, if your career calls for the travel then there really isn’t much of an argument to to be made. My boss pressures me to go to our Ferndale shop but I am pretty stern on that offer as it isn’t apart of my job description.

I have some friends with family down there who reluctantly go to visit because it’s cheaper and easier for them to go down then for their family to come up.

Articles like this are pissing me off. They keep glossing over the reasons.

One line on “Meanwhile, he has angered Canadians with his many public comments about making their country the “51st state”.”

We had Tarriffs the last time that chunderhead was president, and it didn’t stop us

    How about

    • Threatening our sovereignty
    • Declaration of financial war on us
    • Disrespecting us as a country and as a people
    • Betraying our relationship
    • The threat of being disappeared if we go there
    • Constant belittlement of Canada from Americans
    • A complete and total lack of understanding literally anything about Canada by most Americans

We have supported the US time and time again, even when we probably shouldn’t have. We got repaid for our loyalty by betrayal.

    Fuck that country.
