Swiss watchmaker Swatch Group has filed a lawsuit against the Malaysian government for confiscating rainbow-coloured watches that celebrate LGBT rights, in an act the company says has damaged its reputation.

Homosexuality is a crime in Muslim-majority Malaysia, and rights groups have warned of growing intolerance in the country towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community.

      “a company doing a thing”

every company does that, they say it’s for the human rights but no, it’s all about the profit + virtue signaling and trying to appeal to people

      companies don’t care.

I feel like I have PTSD from being “well ackshually’d” and condescended to for years by people like you. Moreover, you lot always talk about “virtue signaling” when it has to do with POC or LGBT+ people, but never seem to have a problem when companies do actually shitty things, like using a non-Pride logo in Saudi Arabia.

So yeah, what Swatch is doing is good. Who cares if it’s a profit motive? Welcome to capitalism. Everything is reduced to a transaction. It makes me want to fucking die every day, but at least let me have things like this ffs, without being a jerk
