The problem is they are treating the main questline as side content. This is an error of categorization.
Problem is they’re not hand crafted meaningful side quests. They’re Bethesda-style radiant quests, endless repetitions of the same thing.
I’ve been through every inch of this place and learned exactly how it runs and everything in it, and I still can’t find the last guy. I’ve opened every door, grabbed everything not bolted down and explored every inch of this place and yet still one mother fucker evades me? Alright I’m out. I’m never doing this again.
Another spreadsheet needs your help. I’ll mark it’s location on the map.
This is going to be my eternal punishment in Hell. Just infinite spreadsheets one after another.
I need environmental storytelling and audio log stories in my daily chores
Honestly, listening to audio books during chores actually did help me!
Music for me. I could if I could listen to tool all day, and not be bothered with human interaction, I’d have figured out interstellar travel by now and not shared it with anyone just to get the fuck out of the world we’re living in. (Not sharing it means no chance of others fucking it up for me.)
I just listen to Adam Something, which means I just end up learning more about trains. I’m not even a train autist I prefer old cars, but even I can’t deny the effectiveness of a well built railline.
100%. I’ve been racing through the expanse audio books while cleaning my house all weekend
I love the expanse so much. I have to wait another 3 or so years before I can listen to it again. Although I stopped at Leviathan falls last time so I think can get away with that.
I’m mostly just annoyed that none of my side quests seem to be unlocking more main story quests and I can’t even tell if I’m getting XP or not. :(
I’m definitely not getting extra caps. And the XP is negligible at best.
I’ve unironically considered writing my own to do list app that gives you “XP” as you complete tasks
There are several that have existed for many years.
Habitica exists 🙂
Shout-out to cyberpunk for making me sit for 12 minutes after a mission to see how much money or xp I made.
side quests are generally just chores with weird restrictions or requirements
There has to be a primary quest objective that you’re avoiding by doing the side quests.
gestures vaguely to everything important
I do this on purpose, give myself stuff to avoid like put off going to the dmv for a week, because that week will be my most productive week in a while, I could just go the first day, but telling myself Ill go next monday somehow puts me in panic mode to complete whatever im doing before that date
Jokes entirely aside, this would be a great name for a to-do list app. Maybe if it were gamified, too.
I’m legitimately surprised it doesn’t already exist. I wish I had the capacity to do app development.
The habitica app might be what you’re looking for. It’s been pretty helpful for my adhd, especially once i’d found a decently active group.
Habitica is a privacy nightmare iirc
I love habitica
I’m pretty sure I have seen this style app before
I meant one literally called Side Quest.
it does already exist, and has for years. in fact, there’s at least several that I’ve seen for android, and there’s probably a bunch for iOS as well. just search for “rpg todo list”.
No, I mean one specifically called Side Quest.
Nearest thing i saw was an app called real life rpg smth if i remember correctly
I personally call it my ‘list of doom’ it makes it sound like a videogame boss ngl
Fetch quests suck
Haha, i did that
