Unless the programmer specifcally coded the person count with an option base 0, the actual limit would likely be 255. A uint8 ranges from 0 to 255. When “one” person in the group chat, the programmer would likely count naturally, and set the variable’s value to 1, not 0.

Perhaps there’s no need to represent zero, since any chat would have at least one person in it? Maybe not true, I don’t know how WhatsApp works.
i donr know either, but I’d guess a chat needs at least two people.
