Don't pine for WordPad; use Word or Notepad instead, says Microsoft.

    While I did use Wordpad pretty regularly as a scratch pad, I get Word access through work and mostly use Notepad at home for config stuff. I don’t see this as that big of a blow.

    I don’t know anyone who has ever used “Windows’ Staple.” It’s either Notepad for basic text or Word for anything more, with Notepad++ on the side for wacky files.

      I used it in a Windows 98 VM a while ago when I tried opening a large text file - apparently Notepad on 9x only supports files smaller than 64 KB.
