At a time when consumer focus on Canadian brands is at an all-time high, Mountain Equipment Company (MEC) announces that it has agreed to be acquired by a Canadian-led ownership group.
They lost me when I wanted to buy barefoot shoes they had on the shelf and the guy was mocking me. Then a second person from staff mocked me as well when she overheard. I just left and never stepped inside one of their stores again.
That sucks. I’ve always wanted to try them but never got a pair since I’ve heard they’re not great on concrete and I unfortunately still live in the city.
