A list of inclusive holidays to remember, commemorate, and celebrate our diverse culture and history.

I’m pretty happy about the positive feedback this project has received so far, and humbled by it.
More than anything, I hope it inspires others to step up when our governments and corporations let us down.
We have to remember that we have each other, and together we can resist and fight back, even in small ways! ✊
The context for this is, of course, the recent decision from Google to drop these holidays from their own calendar.

This is very much work in progress and will work best as a group effort.
Either contribute directly at https://github.com/stefanbohacek/holidays, or let me know which holidays should be added!
May Day
May 1st International Labor Strike@yianiris@libretooth.gr I was actually thinking whether it makes sense to include labor-related holidays. I guess those might be under attack next, though.
Let me give this a bit more thought!
In most parts of the world workers honor May Day as a strike, not a holiday, which is different than the McCartian character it has received in the US as “Labor Day”, to help erase the historic date from memory. So I don’t know whether it should be listed as a holiday, which is not.
And yes, this is just https://challenges.stefanbohacek.com/ repurposed, so I might still need to clean up the code in a few places!
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online
Is there a Google calendar titled “Google are fascists” that I can import into my Google calendar?@stefan@stefanbohacek.online Such a brilliant collection Stefan and quite useful means to make it available.
Thanks for including the #ds106 #dailycreate which has not missed one day since January 8, 2012. The web site is now publishing challenges directly to the fediverse via @creating@daily.ds106.us If you reply in Mastodon, your effort gets published back to the site (thank you ActivityPub WordPress plugin)
@cogdog@cosocial.ca Of course! I’m still hoping to participate myself one day, I just have to stop making all these new projects 🙃
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online really useful resource to check when organising things like tech events. Means you are not continually excluding groups
@rachel@norfolk.social Oh nice, that’s a good use case I haven’t thought of!
