For now, i just use lemmy and really like how you can have content of various other federated services.

I use mastodon and I use it way more than Lemmy. It’s an amazing platform. Right now Lemmy is too meme heavy for my taste. Otherwise I used to use reddit the most.

I have pixeldroid, Tusky, and TubeLab installed but I rarely use them compared to Lemmy. It’s not that I use the proprietary alternatives, I just don’t feel the need to use a messaging app that you have to include images with, or limits the amount of characters in your message.

I sometimes use NewPipe or Odysee because Peertube doesn’t have the content I want, but also not very often.

I’ve used several of them myself. I like Mastodon for the UI but not so much the tooth length. I like that you can filter out content you don’t wish to see your timelines using keywords. This can be done on Misskey, Pleroma and Friendica too.

Finding like-minded people to talk to is hard there, same goes for Pleroma and Misskey. This is why I like the community feel of Lemmy, talking about a common topic of interest is so much easier and less stressful than tooting into the void.

Pleroma is good too, with a very generous character limit and choice of multiple frontends including Mastodon’s. They say Pleroma is lighter on the resources than Mastodon but I wouldn’t know since I never ran my own instance.

Friendica is great for connecting to other networks in the Fediverse like Diaspora, Mastodon, Pleroma etc.

Misskey looks nice, almost like a mixture of Mastodon and Pleroma but it doesn’t play nice on older hardware, so I mainly accessed it via an app.
