minus-squareSonor@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up17·17 days agoI tried to get into this game twice in my life, and somehow i never could. I wonder what i did wrong
minus-squarekaosof@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up13·17 days agoToo young for how old the game is?
minus-squareSonor@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·17 days agoWell, I’m 37, so maybe not too-too young. Maybe i just wasn’t familiar with the d&d ruleset it was based on?
minus-squareAngryCommieKender@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·edit-217 days agoOh yeah. If it was based on 2.5 then that alone is gonna have you scratching your head. Gygax needed to be told to chill with the math nerd shit in that edition, but wasn’t.
minus-squareneon_nova@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·17 days agoI have the same question, I was a teenager when it came out and I found it a bit confusing. There seems to be a lot of different campaigns. It felt that the combat was immediately too difficult and then I got to a boss that wrecked me. So, I gave up.
minus-squareEvil_Shrubbery@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·edit-217 days agoNeverwinter Nights is more of a d&d tool for DM & parties with custom campaigns to enjoy online instead of irl. The included campaign is a bit of an after-thought (a bit basic, but complete, I still like it).
minus-squarebollybing@lemmynsfw.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·17 days agoThe expansion campaigns, especially hordes of the underdark were much higher quality.
minus-squarejulietOscarEcho@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·17 days agoI can’t help comparing it (unfavourably) to baldurs gate 1. The story just didn’t hook me the same way.
minus-squaretal@lemmy.todaylinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·edit-217 days agoThe base game’s campaign was meh, kinda repetitive. The expansions – and player-made adventures – improved on it a lot.
