Best controllers Atari ever made. Everything after this was rubbish.

I loved playing Breakout and Warlords on those! So intuitive!
KABOOM!
Night Driver!
Kaboom was quite literally the bomb.
It’s disappointing there’s no paddle controller for Atari 50 on consoles. So many of the games are flat out unplayable with a joystick.
Yes. Best Atari controllers for atari consoles. You are right in that regard. Keyboard and mouse still win in every other comparison
Wico had the best controllers for Atari in my opinion. Don’t think they had a paddle, but they did have a trackball which was great to play Centipede and Missile Command with.
This controller had rotators for movement with the paddle. You could perform 3-dimensiol movement while a auxiliary action command was available. At the time, it was top-of-the-line, but it also came out when Atari consoles were on their way out
Which controller is that you are talking about? I know they had paddles and also driving controllers which were paddles without the stop. The wico controllers I am talking about are the Red Ball and the same stick versions.
I wanted to like them but only one of mine worked properly. The other made the paddle twitch back and forth erratically.
@Odo@lemmy.world that’s a typical fault if the potentiometer gets corroded. Can be dealt with by cleaning it. Or in the worst case even by replacing the pot.
@root42@chaos.social The driving controllers were great, ttoo. #indy500
@root42@chaos.social This reminded me of a mind-blowing YouTube video that shows the world record of Kaboom!
