Christine Farrell was an avid comic collector for 50 years, amassing — mostly pre-internet — thousands of items from different artists and genres. The jewel in the crown was her complete set of DC comic issues from 1935 onwards, which she built between 1970 and 2007. Highlights included “Superman No. 1” and “Action Comics #1.” Farrell died in April, and now those DC comics are up for auction. @ArtNews takes a look at what’s being sold, and pays tribute to this remarkable woman.
