Strategically this might be a good time. Enough people have been waiting for USB C to flatten out any drop to demand from the pricing.
But don’t they increase the price every year
Apple raises prices like they always have forever
TEH STRATAGY
With rising costs everywhere, this is another opportunity for Apple to take another chunk of money.
With a base markup of 119%, Apple could probably hit as high 140% without much backlash from loyalists.
I feel like the Android market is getting shittier and shittier, but might be my very bad experience with my latest Samsung talking.
This being said, glad I got the iPhone 14 Pro Max and didn’t wait for the 15 Pro Max.
You also need to take into account that inflation rate since 2021 has been huge, there was various components shortages and the new iPhone 15 Pro is apparently built out of titanium which is more expensive than steel.
As long as they don’t touch the base model, I don’t have any issue with them increasing the price of the pro. The day I can’t get a new iPhone for $800 or less is the day I find a different phone to use.
That’s funny since the base iPhone 12 and 13 were $829, then the 14 dropped back to $799.
They go up and down, just mostly up $50 every few generations. The base model that is according to MacTracker.
Which the iPhone 11 was $699. So the jump from 11-12 was $129. Can’t remember if there was that much of a stink about it but probably was.
The base iPhone 12 and 13 was the mini which were both sold for less than $800. And I owned them both. Using my 13 mini to type this reply.
I don’t know if you can call the mini the base model. It’s not available every generation and is a special model like the SE.
What feature does the standard 12 and 13 have that the mini models don’t? The SE makes compromises all over the keep the price down. So it’s not a straight comparison.
Well the iPhone 14 exists but the 14 mini does not. It did have similar features sans general size, battery etc, but it needs to be available to be a “base” model.
Other than that it’s just a generational one off product like the plus, SE, or XR models.
The iPhone 14 is under $800. You just said it’s $799.
Disposable income is an awesome thing isn’t it?
I swear I’ve been reading this rumor for 3+ years at this point
And it has been true every time.
I’m guessing the pro models are a much smaller market share, so they’re trying to get a bigger bang for their buck.
