Charles Martinet Who has voiced Mario since Super Mario 64 will no longer be lending his voice to the legendary plumber.

Nintendo have also confirmed that Martinet is not involved with the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder which means both Mario and Luigi will be voiced by new voice actors.

    Legend.

Nobody wanted Chris Pratt and this professional voice actor could have easily toned the mario voice down for the movie.

Chris Pratt couldn’t even say “Here we goo!”

In my completely unsolicited opinion Chris Pratt should have been Luigi and Charlie Day would have made a better Mario.

Martinet’s first Mario games were actually Mario Teaches Typing and Mario’s Game Gallery. Both developed by Interplay for the PC and both released in 1994. Super Mario 64 came out a bit later in 1996.

I never played Teaches Typing or Game Gallery, but Mario 64 blew my mind.

I’m 99% sure they’re gonna get Chris Pratt and whoever played Luigi in the new Mario movie to play Mario and Luigi going forward.

I hope I’m wrong, but I have a strong feeling that’s how it’s gonna play out.

With all the rumors around wonder and then the whole movie ordeal I’m glad to hear that this seems to be a mutual thing and that Charles will stay on in his new role as “Mario Ambassador”.

Given how protective Nintendo is over this IP I trust that the replacements will be faithful to the characters, even if it’s gonna take quite a bit of getting used to!
