Disclaimer: please don’t be mad over this post. i don’t want to spoil travelling for anyone, it’s just how i have been feeling for some years now and i would love to talk with people who have experienced something similar or listen to some thoughts or advice 🫶🏻
I have been trying to look up this phenomenon that occurred to me, but online they described travel fatigue or burnout as something non lasting and the definition is also very different from what I have been experiencing.
So basically between the ages of 19 and 22 I lived abroad in different countries and did a lot of travelling (mostly in Europe). I loved it a lot, but one time I did a trip that changed my thoughts about travelling. It was a trip where I visited like 4 countries and 9 cities in a matter of 2 weeks or something like that. After the first half I had already felt burned out and travelling didn’t feel special anymore. Every city it was the same, you look at stuff, learn about the culture,… ever since I‘m not really interested in travelling anymore as it seems so superficial. You‘d need to live in a country to actually get to know it, instead we stay 5 days in a city and it becomes more of a checking off a list. It feels so pretentious also. And I don’t feel like spending so much money on something so superficial.
IDK i don’t want to ramble any longer but i wanted to ask if anyone has experience with this or some input or whatever
