Hi everyone! The next step on my sim journey is to build a PC and I’m having some issues figuring out what should be the requirements of the build since I do not have a target budget (I will instead define how much I need to spend and save in order to get that).

My target is more about what should the experience be like, but thats very unspecific and I would like some help. Basically I would like to have a PC that lets me play “all” the games without limitations on what I can or cannot do on the “racing” side (for example I dont want to be cut out of a big multi class online race because the PC cant handle it, or more generally cannot race “well” because of some reason) but I have no references at all on the graphics side: how much is the difference from 1080p to 2K, what is an acceptable FPS range and so on…

The only thing I know for sure is that I want to have triples (that i will buy after the PC)!

So basically I want to be sure that on the racing side of things I can “do” everything that a “pro” does and im not missing any features (i dont know if that makes sense) but i can somewhat compromise on the graphics side… And thats the tricky points because at the same time I obviously dont want my games to look like Gran Turismo 1.

Do you have any tips on how to better define my PC requirements? Is there any reference on how does a given game look like on different settings, FPS, resolutions and so on?

As for the titles I dont know for certain because till now i played only AC, ACC, GT Sport and PC2 on PS4 (and as you know the experience is quite awful on all of them, for different reasons) and AC at like 30 FPS on an old PC, but it would probably be mostly iRacing, AC, ACC… But also maybe rfactor and all the others because i never tried them!

Sorry for the long post, ask me anything so I can clarify myself further.

EDIT: I’m gonna clarify myself a little further. I do not have a pre-fixed budget and I don’t want to throw a random number because that would be useless. I don’t want to spend X amount of money and then finding myself resource limited.

Here are my points:

  1. I want to be certain that I’m not missing anything on the online/simulation/racing aspect
  2. I want to have triples
  3. I want to compromise on the graphics (because the less I spend the sooner I will get the required money) as much as I can as long as the overall experience is still good… basically I can cut on the “purely” aestetical aspects

So I guess that a more precise question is: what are the minimum requirements for a great overall experience while also keeping an eye on the budget? As an example: I really have no idea if racing at 60 fps is good enough or if that would impact my driving experience and therefore i should look at idk 100 fps minimum or I dont know if 2K makes a big difference to 1080p or not.
