jk i still want to talk about it i guess.

What’s less clear is whether the shooting hastens Democratic calls for Biden to withdraw from the race. Most elected Democrats responded to the shooting by denouncing political violence and few wanted to discuss how it may echo in the campaign.

Yet in private, many Democratic political veterans were bracing for Trump to enjoy a convention bounce larger than he could have ever hoped to enjoy in such divided times. And it wasn’t difficult to detect a sense of doom, that an already uphill campaign may have become out of reach. One longtime strategist invoked Bill Clinton’s memorable line about “strong and wrong” always trumping “weak and right.”

Journalists seem to think this is a game. People have already seen the consequences and how they directly effect their own lives. Women (and families in general) wont forget Roe and it will have impact on an ongoing basis. Most sane people wont forget Jan 6th. People who are paying attention are not going to forget the violent rhetoric and stochastic terrorism, promises of retribution and being a dictator on day 1 etc.

That is certainly a problem but many (most?) women you ask, are paying attention to what threatens their lives and puts them into a second class status. And its not just the supposed radical leftist either. There have been and will be plenty of “good” god fearing families who get into trouble with their pregnancies and experience some true horror. Then when you get into IVF and contraception… banning porn etc.

Or his 2 impeachments. Or inciting an insurrection. He’s got a few areas to fall back on. Who knows maybe he’ll make some more memories.

Given that Trump’s campaign and congressional Republicans have already successfully pushed the narrative into centrist media that Biden’s line about ‘putting Trump in the crosshairs’ is to blame, there’s no way Biden makes it through this with unaligned voter support.

He either drops out, or we lose to Trump in November and get all the political violence Trump has been promising.

And this isn’t just doomerism- Axios interviewed a Democratic House Rep who told them that

“We’ve all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency.”

Thank god AOC at least can walk and chew gum at the same time.

      a Democratic House Rep

You say that like there haven’t been thousands of house representatives that have predicted an election incorrectly (or like being a house representative gives some special insight).

This defeatist “Trump already won” stuff is driving me crazy.

Trump’s greatest strength is to push through with solidarity. Biden has a bad debate and “it’s all over, just give up if he doesn’t drop out guys.”
