I googled this issue but only got a couple of Reddit posts from a year ago with no real answer. Does anybody here know what’s going on with beta client updates on the stable update channel?
Same thing happened to me, but I only remember it happening when I was on Bazzite. Are you running something that’s not SteamOS?
Only regular SteamOS.
So, that particular problem was fixed for me when I went back to SteamOS from Bazzite, which required me to reimage the entire device.
Thus, my two suggestions are:
- Download the SteamOS recovery image and reinstall SteamOS.
- Use the recovery image to reimage the entire Deck (factory wipe).
Try this:
Enable developer mode (settings>system)
Then open the developer menu (settings>developer) and turn on “Show Advanced Update Channels”
Now go back to the System category and you should have separate options for OS Update and Steam Client. Make sure they’re both set to stable.
If they’re already stable, change the client one to beta, and then back to stable.
