Hey.

I’m a few months into my third internship with my role being called security engineer (intern) at a large multinational cooperation. I thought I was going to help secure systems and code, however my job is basically being a sysadmin for security tools (EDR, NDR, Vuln Scanning, SIEM etc.) so deploy them, configure them and run them. Isn’t this the job of a normal sysadmin? I feel like a made a huge mistake in doing this internship because I wanted to get a security job. It’s not technically challenging me and the main things I’m learning are processes, navigating a very complex IT-infrastructure and ITIL.
