Just North of Punakaiki, West Coast, SI.
It sounds like it was pretty spectacular down south, not so much in Wellington.
Sounds like this morning’s display was pretty decent, but expected to subside by tonight :(
looks like the predicted peak is now towards early night “It is expected to peak tonight, with the US Space Weather Prediction Centre forecasting severe conditions from 6-9pm (NZ time) on Saturday.”
I see that the predicted peak is about 3 this afternoon
