Look for dell latitudes with 7th and maybe 8th gen Intel CPUs. Those are solid machines that aren’t considered upgradable to win11. They also have removable RAM (DDR4 IIRC) so many can be upgraded to 32GB max.

This is well said. Hadn’t thought of it this way. Makes for a much better experience overall.

I use it. Got the early bird special they’ve been running. It’s pretty good once you get a feel for the exit nodes. It’s much more prone to being blocked by sites like YouTube than other big name VPNs I’ve used, but as time passes it’s getting better. It’s rare I can’t find one that works eventually. No account needed and the mixnet feature are great for the privacy minded.

Keep your eyes on Linux phone developments. That’s likely where the future lies for any semblance of privacy on a cell phone.

This list is pretty good
I agree, but this comment would hit much harder if you were to provide an alternative solution.

Besides wind turbines and some solar power, all of our power plants are essentially fancy steam engines turning turbines. We’ve been generating power using water to spin wheels of increasing complexity for thousands of years. Wind as well, though it’s not as prevalent in the modern era.

More encryption is the only thing I would think worthy of mention since I don’t see that listed anywhere. Encrypted messengers, encrypted storage, encrypted emails.

You pretty much got the foundational stuff plus a little more established. Aside from getting away from Apple, which you already mentioned, there’s not much more I can think of without going full tinfoil hat. The main thing, in my opinion, is just not being a wide open door and giving away your personal data freely. Sounds like you’re there, so long as you don’t have social media accounts.

Thanks!

Do you have a link to the talk? I looked through her youtube and didn’t see anything that quite matched this topic.

I didn’t say they were all shitposts. Just that it likely consumed shitposts.

I’m trained on pirated books and I do alright.
Believing forum shitposts would definitely poison the well though.

Create a separate user profile (one for each “online identity” if needed).
Install orbot (tor) on the main (admin) profile, along with any stores or app installers.
Install apps with the admin profile and pass them to your user profiles that will use them. Your installs will be anonymous through orbot. Disable all apps on the admin profile and don’t use apps on it.
I use an always on VPN on user profiles. You can also use orbot, but it will likely be slower.
Agreed. I almost exclusively run scripts.
