Good.
Americans are left with such a terrible, enshittified digital information economy that we must entertain even our enemies for alternatives.

Even if I agreed that such export controls were of significant strategic importance, I don’t think it’s worth applying extreme pressure to our allies to accomplish it. The notion that China can’t innovate becomes less true by the year.
The AI build out is an engineering disaster. China will catch up irrespective of what controls we apply to inhibit them. If we can’t out-compete them, then we lose.
It would probably be much easier to out-compete them if we weren’t actively destroying the greatest network of alliances in human history. We’re fucking morons.
Just don’t reply. Been doing it for years in both personal and work contexts.
I just don’t use AI at all for this. I only use it for formatting my code, auditing my code, and research (that I verify). I would never use it for communication.

That’s nice. I look forward to never using it.

Yea, it’s been pretty severely mishandled. Star Wars is oft-described as an evergreen setting. Halo is certainly not Star Wars. But it has a pretty vast, expansive setting that could be evergreen. There’s a lot of great stories you could tell and plenty of space to build characters we care about. But the IP has been completely rudderless since Halo 4.
I’m becoming rather convinced that the bespoke studio model wherein a single studio does nothing but make Halo games is a bad idea. I think it leads to a lot of turnover and creative burnout. Instead, I think they should license the IP to studios that make a good pitch. It took them over a decade. But Disney finally figured that out with Marvel. Now we’re getting great Marvel games from multiple studios and publishers.
Turn Halo Studios into a Lucasfilm-like org that partners with other studios (internal or external) and sets the guardrails. It could be great.

Yup same. Nothing had the staying power for PvP like H3.

Lol, that’s sick. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. I also have the Legendary Edition. It’s at the center of my little collection–which I’m now looking to expand more than ever. Unfortunately, the future of gaming (and consumer electronics more broadly) looks pretty dystopian. So, I’m left with further exploring the past.
Good thing there are so many great games to be played.

They can fuck right off.
For the foreseeable future, DIYPC is dead.

It’s such a shame to see high-performance computing and gaming more broadly become largely unaffordable. Hell, prior to the DRAM shortage, the current-generation game consoles were already MORE EXPENSIVE than they were at launch. And it’s just going to get worse.
I’ll be more specific. The PRC (government) is an enemy to humanity in my view.
