0·2 days agoI don’t think we can eliminate the debt in a way that matters without making a bigger mess of it. There simply isn’t a constructive way out that we’re interested in.

0·2 days agoEven if you approach the debt with a real solution, it’s almost impossible to follow through with it. As soon as we have a positive trajectory financially, the incentive is to bet that on more debt.
The system we’re currently using only works so long as we never get to where we are now.

I don’t like smoking. I think I ought to be free to decide that for myself. I can’t, or by proxy, make that determination for anyone else - even though I don’t think they should be smoking if they choose to.
If it didn’t make so much money, kids wouldn’t be vaping. It’s an integral part of the American performance that, “nothing we can do about it”, is just what everone sees, and therefore thinks. We could prosecute parents for letting their kids have them, prosecute the gas stations for peddling it, prosecute the companies making them cheap and disposable. All of that would turn off the faucet on a billion dollar industry though, so it becomes part of our performance in one way or another. We have fundamentally bet that our world is a better place with smoking children in it, than without. That is what Capitalism does, that is how it does it. That is why it needs to be controlled like a rabid dog on a leash.
False dichotomy. \thread

Here in Missouri the bike lanes are just painted on existing car lanes. Sometimes right down the middle. I actually applaud whenever I see a cyclist acting safe. The performance of most cyclists I see is insane at best, deadly at worst. I don’t think most cyclists realize they can be run over and the cops would likely just rule it an accident, unless there’s pressure and evidence to suggest otherwise. If I hated cars so much I didn’t want to use one, the last thing I would do is pick fights with them on crowded streets. The best cyclist is the one that isn’t there.
I wish bikes just took the whole lane like a car. Half assing it either way is really the problem.
If one AI breaks containment, then they all need to keep up with the performance.
