Biden should be happy to let BYD sell in the US to promote the competition and the free market bandied about by USians so much as the road to freedom.
Sticker price is already dropping — it’s been wildly inflated for both EVs and gas cars because automakers saw that they had limited supply, and could push people into fancier option packages and bigger vehicles than they might want.
While electric cars are an improvement over ICE vehicles that will help the planet, there’s still a lot more potential to decarbonize cities faster and help people get moving again by investing in alternatives to driving and upzoning everywhere permissively to legalize traditional development patterns ie mixed use, walkable, transit oriented streets.
